What Does the following abdominal Ultrasound Indicate?

My friend has pain in the abdomen - just below the rib-cage. He consulted a doctor, an x-ray of the abdomen, full abdomen USG and CBC was done.

The USG report says "gall blader : is collapsed".

CBC says: The Differential Count of Eosinophil is 7% (normal range 1 - 6 %), Absolute Eosinophil Count is 0.7 x 10^3/micro L (0.02 - 0.5 is the normal range) and Absolute Basophil Count is 0.0 x 10^3/micro L (0.01 - 0.1 is normal range)

What is your opinion? how serious is his condition?

He has had this problem for the past 3 months.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
According to your USG (ultrasonography) report, Your gall bladder is in contracted or collapsed state at the time of testing. This contracted stage normally occurs when you are eating food or just after having food. Contracted stage of gall bladder at other times is abnormal. This is most commonly due to presence of stones in gall bladder(Cholecystitis). Gallstones are small hard deposits that form in the gallbladder and can cause many problems & should be the reason of pain just below the rib-cage on right side.
However slight elevation of eosinophils to 7% in differential count & absolute basophil count of zero are not related to this problem & hence not to be concerned off.
The best method to deal with gall bladder problems is to opt for a diet that is very low in fat so that no strain is exerted on the gall bladder. High fiber foods like leafy vegetables, whole grain cereals and fruit are highly recommended. Anything high in fats such as fried foods, processed foods, etc should be avoided. If pain persists removal of gall bladder (cholecystectomy) is advised.

Refer to your physician
Hope this information helps
